The Nipah virus (NiV) was first discovered in 1998 after an outbreak of the disease in bats, pigs, and people in Malaysia. Allegedly the Nipah virus is a zoonotic virus, which means it can be spread from animals to humans. Just for the record, it has NEVER been scientifically proven that animals can spread a virus to humans. Furthermore, a virus has never been isolated outside of the human body.
